Customer Service
Where are your toothpastes made?
In the good ol' US of A. Just like our toothbrushes and accessories.

Customer Service Ticket:Is it true that you changed your toothpaste formula?
'Tis true. In early 2017, we decided we wanted to offer a much lighter, smoother toothpaste and so we made a few minor tweaks to our formula that organically enhanced the taste, texture, and the overall brushing experience. Oh, and it's now made in the USA. Which is awesome.

Customer Service Ticket:Do you offer a "send back" recycling program?
You've heard of these programs, right? Customers send their used product back to the manufacturer who say they’ll happily recycle it and make it into a bright and shiny new product. That sounds great, doesn't it? Well it turns out those types of programs are (in our opinion) a little too good to be true. Years ago we actually looked into a recycling program just like that and after doing some extensive math, we found that it actually took more energy to return the product to us than it did to manufacture it in the first place. Hear us out... if you take into account the return fuel (UPS trucks need gas after all), the material for the box used to send it, and then the energy it takes to make it into a new product, package it, and resend it out to retailers, it basically defeats the purpose of an eco-friendly recycling program.
We believe that using a sustainable manufacturing process and making products out of earth-friendly materials that last longer but can be easily recycled by the user in the end, will benefit the environment more than sending it back for us to “recycle.”

Customer Service Ticket:Why don't you make electric toothbrushes?
As you may have noticed, RADIUS does not make electric toothbrushes. It’s manual all the way for us. The reason for this is that in 2006, Cochrane Collaborative, the world’s leading dental research body, found that a manual toothbrush was not only a much cheaper option but was also better for your teeth. In fact, only one electric toothbrush was found to be better than a manual (and by only 7%). So when you see an electric toothbrush on display in your dentist’s office, odds are you’re seeing the work of a great salesman, not science.

Customer Service Ticket:Are your toothpastes GMO free?
As a company, we don't believe in GMOs so all of our products are non-GMO. Our toothpaste specifically cannot contain GMOs in order to be certified USDA organic.
We also don't use any chemicals, SLS, SLES, triclosan, carageenan, fluoride, pesticides, glutens, saccharin, carrageenan, parabens, artificial additives or sweeteners, propylene glycol, detergents, or synthetic foaming agents.

Customer Service Ticket:Do your toothpastes contain xylitol?
Our toothpastes do not contain xylitol. Our organic gel toothpastes contain erythritol which can help fight cavities and plaque even better than xylitol.
Our USDA Canine Toothpaste is definitely xylitol free because we like our furry friends and xylitol is toxic to dogs.

Customer Service Ticket:Are your toothpaste tubes recyclable?
You better believe it.
Recyclable #2 plastic, to be exact. Oh, and because we care about you they're also BPA & BPS free.

Customer Service Ticket:Why do you use organic agave?
Well, unlike other toothpastes which may use artificial sweeteners (like aspartame, ew.) we wanted a healthy, non-cavity causing sweetener that wasn't synthetic or full of chemicals.
Organic Blue Agave is derived from plants and has been used for centuries as a flavor enhancer and natural remedy. Organic Blue Agave Syrup is stored by the body as insulin and breaks down to mostly fructose, making it low on the glycemic index.
Agave has been known not to cause cavities and is rich in calcium, magnesium, potassium, and iron, offering great teeth-strengthening benefits. It has a mild, honey-like flavor and consistency, is vegan friendly, and won’t leave a funny aftertaste in your mouth, like stevia or potentially harm your furbaby like Xylitol.

Customer Service Ticket:Are your toothpastes safe to swallow?
This is something we've never understood about other toothpaste manufacturers - if it's going in your mouth (which it is) why wouldn't you make it safe to swallow?
So you guessed it, our toothpaste is totally safe to swallow. We only use safe ingredients that are of the highest-quality. Our organic toothpastes are all chemical free, and don't contain any SLS, SLES, GMOs, fluoride, pesticides, glutens, saccharin, carrageenan, parabens, artificial additives, detergents, or synthetic foaming agents. Our ingredient combo is quite tasty as well, making our toothpaste literally good enough to eat.

Customer Service Ticket:Why is being USDA certified organic such a big deal?
To say that it's kind of a big deal is an understatement. It's a very big deal because it means that we meet the very strict criteria set forth by the USDA to label our toothpaste as "organic" and we are allowed to carry the USDA logo.
Part of their criteria is that at least 95% of the ingredients must be organic - our toothpaste is 98% organic, since we like going above and beyond and all that.

Customer Service Ticket:Can my child use your Mint Aloe Neem or Ginger Citrus Toothpastes?
While all of our toothpastes are completely safe for children 6 months and up, we've found that most kids prefer the taste of our Children's Coconut Banana Toothpaste rather than our adult toothpaste flavors.
But if you think your child will love a fresh mint or a zesty ginger toothpaste, go for it!

Why aren't there a lot of USDA certified organic toothpastes?
To put it bluntly, it's hard to do and costs a lot of money.
Not surprisingly, finding high-quality ingredients that are natural, functional, delicious, and blend well together is not easy or cheap, which is why most companies don't attempt it. In fact, it took RADIUS 5 years to develop our unique formula and it was definitely a labor of love. We needed to find organic and natural ingredients that provided the same (or more) benefits as the chemical-heavy toothpastes on the market today. Not an easy feat, but we believe we got the job done. Making it even more difficult, in order to be certified organic by the USDA your product must contain at least 95% organic materials. Again, not easy.

What are the USDA standards for organic products?
Not all organic products are created equal. There's various levels of "organic" and certain requirements from the USDA for each level.
Our toothpastes are at the certified level which requires at least 95% organic ingredients. Fun fact: Our toothpastes are actually 98% organic... because we're over achievers like that.
But not everyone is on our level so here's the basic gist of what "organic" means according to the USDA:
-
“100% Organic” If you see this it means that the product contains 100% organic ingredients (excluding salt & water) and may use the USDA seal and/or a “100% organic claim.” The organic ingredients must be identified on the panel.
-
“Organic” If you see a product labeled “organic” it means that at least 95% of the ingredients (excluding salt & water) are organic and the USDA seal may be used. It may be stated that the product is “organic” and the organic ingredients must be identified on the panel. Our certified USDA Organic Toothpaste falls under this category.
-
“Made with Organic...” When you see this on a product it means that it contains at least 70% organic ingredients. The product cannot have the USDA seal and cannot be labeled as “organic.” When labeling the product, it can say “made with organic...” and there may be up to 3 ingredients or categories mentioned. A blanket statement of “made with organic ingredients” cannot be made.
So, to sum it up, not all organic products are created equal. Know your labels.
